Overall, a nice change of pace for the show BUT you wonder why Quincy wasn't very thorough when he did the autopsy for the first time-this was VERY atypical for this character. Sure, one of the folks in the show ended up being a phony but the show was NOT some cheap attack against organized religion. Quincy, M.E., the trail-blazing series that created the medical investigation genre, comes home to DVD for the first time ever in this gripping 3-disc set of Seasons One and Two Television icon Jack Klugman is the crusading and headstrong medical examiner Dr. Quincy investigates the death of a teenager who smoked marijuana treated with a chemical that stimulates plant growth. With Jack Klugman, Garry Walberg, John S. I liked how it dealt with a tough subject without coming off as vindictive or insulting. No Way to Treat a Flower: Directed by Ray Danton. But I did appreciate two big things-first, that the psychological autopsy did NOT offer clear answers and second, that it introduced the concept of a psychological autopsy. It makes you wonder if perhaps this particular show was meant as a possible spin off from "Quincy". This was an unusual show in that it is less a Quincy episode and more about Dr. However, one word of caution, such 'autopsies' are NOT certainties-it is just a best guess. ![]() So, Quincy suggests that they do a so-called 'psychological autopsy' on the man-have a consulting psychologist and his team determine which was the case. ![]() Or, the guy just wanted to die and took the lethal combination. The dead man's having mixed drugs and alcohol could have been the result of his intense congenital pain-in a misguided attempt to quell the pain. However, when Quincy does the autopsy, why he took this combination is not clear-it MIGHT have been a deliberate suicide or it MIGHT have just been a mistake. Noguchi! By the way, this show is similar to an episode of "Mannix" ("Huntdown", season one, episode nine)-both feature the star of the show visiting a MIGHTY unfriendly town that is trying to keep a secret! And, both are excellent episodes."Mode of Death" begins with a famous TV evangelist being found dead in a hotel room-the apparent victim of an overdose of pills and liquor. This is ironic because his character was actually based on Dr. ![]() By the way, in this episode Quincy mentions the work of a 'Dr Thomas Noguchi'. Quincy suspects that high school coach Virginia Hart is providing the team with performance-enhancing drugs to give them a competitive edge as they head into a national competition. You also get to see a BRIEF look at a very young Jamie Lee Curtis and the show was directed by Ivan Dixon-of "Hogan's Hero's" fame. Episode aired TV-PG 1h IMDb RATING 7.2 /10 77 YOUR RATING Rate Crime Drama Mystery Star gymnast Sally collapses during practice and dies. The show stars Jack Klugman as a medical examiner in Los Angeles who solves crimes and deals with social issues of the time. It was originally broadcast on NBC from October 3, 1976, to May 11, 1983. The plot is very interesting and it keeps you guessing. This is a list of episodes from Quincy, M.E., an American crime investigation and mystery series. But why?! What's REALLY afoot? This is one of the better episodes of the series-though it DOES tread into familiar material. However, it looks as if he'll get himself killed before the case is complete. However, some locals behave VERY unfriendly towards him-with threats, a hit and run and Danny being badly 'inconvenienced', it's no wonder that Quincy resumes the investigation with vigor. For the most part, everything seems in order with the case and Quincy is about to resume his vacation. This seems like a pretty routine problem-Quincy, the consultant, will re-check the forensics to see if there were any mistakes. ![]() It seems a man was convicted on manslaughter and his daughter cannot accept that he was guilty. They plan on just doing some fishing and relaxing, but not surprisingly, Quincy is suckered into investigating a murder than happened several months ago. Once again, Quincy is on vacation AND bad things happen that interrupt his rest and relaxation! In episodes 1.4 (Catalina Island) and 2.1 and 2.2 (Lake Tahoe), the same sort of thing happens-and would happen in subsequent episodes! Quincy, like Jessica Fletcher, should just STOP TAKING VACATIONS!!! If he does, someone will die or a previous murder will need to be re-investigated! Quincy and Danny are on a vacation in the mountains. Considering that there were only a little over a half dozen episodes of "Quincy" before this, the show was getting into a VERY repetitive pattern. While attending a forensic pathologist convention in Tahoe, Quincys called on to help when hotel guests and staff are stricken with a mysterious illness.
